July was my 5k-a-day challenge. Finishing up this means I'm ready to start Stage One of my marathon training.
Since the Honolulu marathon I’ve been finding it hard to get out and do any running. But I’ve been a Nike Plus and Garmin person for a number of years and it’s always helped me to keep a little bit motivated. Well this year I’ve ‘kinda’ been planning to be more active, but things have been going slooooow. Nonetheless, my friends on Nike Plus have been cheering me on with various challenges. Thank you guys!
So my goal this year is to do at least 12,000 km.
So far I seem to be on track and as a matter of fact, Nike had a number of nice motivational challenges over the last few months. What made it more fun was that after completing the challenge, you could stop by any Nike store and pick up a pin. Now that’s a great motivator for me. After all, who doesn’t like a little ‘bling’!?!
Over the next month I’m also planning to move 101marathoners.com over to a new Running/Training section on this website. From there I plan to start blogging about my training for a few 1/2 marathons in November and December down in Australia. Dates and locations are TBA at the moment and the first thing I need to do is to get in shape for my traditional 5k Fun Run at the OC Fair. I missed it last year because of work, but I defiantly plan to be there this year.
