May was a quite month. It was a month that let me catch up on a back log of things. More importantly, it gave me the opportunity to enjoy our home. It’s been quite some time that I’ve been able to stay home a relax.

Of course with an opportunity to spend more time at home, that means more BBQs and backyard relaxation. The BBQ part we’ve got down pat. Being in southern California, we’ve pretty much mastered the art of evening meals with me BBQing on the balcony off the kitchen. But enjoying the backyard is another issue.

We fixed it up last year and we even got great deal on furniture during Sear’s bankruptcy and close-out sale last fall. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a descent umbrella and our outdoor furniture found it home in our garage for a number of months. But now with a little extra ‘local’ time, we’ve been able to find an umbrella and our backyard is starting to take shape. So June will be the start of enjoying those early morning and late evening backyard retreats!

Other days I spent my mornings walking and running in Yorba Linda park. With spring finishing up I got to see all the baby duckies! Other than that, it was an easy going month where we could enjoy the odd Sunday Dim Dum coming back from Newport Beach or visiting friends at a hog Dog stand using a Groupon!

Towards the end of the month we took a few days off for Memorial Day weekend and drive down to San Diego. We used to stay right downtown or over at Harbor Island and go sailing out on the bay. But this time we decided to take a different look and and stayed in Point Loma for a couple of nights. From there we visited the piers, walked around Belmont Park, and just took in the coast between San Diego and La Jolla. Sometimes the best vacation is the one that has no plan except to relax in a new surrounding and enjoy each other’s company.
