Does this month signal a new chapter in my life?
Since my father passed away in December things never were quit final. Whether I was in denial or just trying to keep busy, I didn’t think that things have really changed in my life. However, the month it’s become more apparent that… that part of my life… with my parents… has finally come to a close.
As such, I headed to Montreal to do a final cleanup of my parent’s home before everything getting passed over to the final cleaning crew and Realestate agent. Ayano came after her father’s funeral and help with things and until then, I was finding new homes amongst friends for a number of left-over sentimental items.
My father’s framed ‘Mossie’ aircraft was passed over to Dave in Ottawa (an avid musician who loves to build and paint models), the famous ‘wooden dragon’ was passed down to Fil, the HUGE ladder found a new home on the south shore, and Frank even came to pickup the an AC unit!
In the meantime, travel plans were starting to go into lock-down with the COVID pandemic and we were starting to get worried if the border would be closed before heading back. Nonetheless, we made it to California using our cert-upgrades to travel first-class from JFK to LAX and once we got home, California started to enforce a mandatory stay-at-home order.
It was too crazy to go out anyway since you never knew who could be infected. I had a very small birthday for Ayano, since we were both still very sad from both our fathers passing away. As for the rest of the month… was pretty uneventful.
Perhaps the highlight was seeing the baby owls during our morning walks at Yorba Linda park. So cute!
Unfortunately the park started to get crowed and we tried to walk on our local golf course, but that too was soon out-of-bounds due to the COVID lockdown. Nonetheless, we could still go for walks around the community searching for teddy-bears or passing out internet hugs online. Let’s see how April and May go…
