June has been pretty uneventful. Business is still on hold and travel to Japan is probably on hold until sometime in 2021. So with less commitments (and less money), I’ve been brushing up on my technical skills and putting a few new business projects into the pipeline.

I also decided that it was time to move forward with a few programming projects that have been on hold since December. Unfortunately that also means that I need to update my Apple operating system to Catalina – which ALSO means that I need to find a new workflow for my photography. Well… I think I will leave that until next month and let you know what happens in July since that’s no easy task as I previously mentioned in my Aperture blog post.

As for this month, we’ve had a few extremely low tides at the beach before sunrise. It’s my favorite time to go since so few people wake up that early to take advance of the peace and serenity. Plus with a low tide we get a lot more space to roam and explore. Ayano especially liked going because we got to see the dolphins feed just past the break every time!

The beach is also a great place to go for a run. At low tide the sand is soft and flat, making it an idea place to burn a few calories with out breaking too much of a sweat due to the cooler temperatures and ocean breeze. Of course the hard part is getting up at 4:30am!

Nonetheless, there is something majestic about enjoying an early morning ocean all to yourself then heading back home to go for a quick dip in the club pool before people are even out on the road. By the time 9 am rolls around, I’ve done 7 to 10k at the beach, had a 30 minute dip in the pool, showered. and finished breakfast… ready to start my day all fresh!

Other days when the tides are not so low, we head over to Yorba Linda park. There are more people going for walks now and we need to get there pretty early in order to stay a safe distance away from people who just don’t care about others and don’t practice proper distancing or hygiene.

For the evenings we are still going strong with baking and experimenting with different cultural food categories. Sushi and Hotpot are always on the list. But this month we were fortunate enough to make some Vietnamese Spring Rolls after finding our rice paper. We also made the usual pizza dishes and on a few occasions, built up a fresh supply of Pitas for our Greek or Middle Eastern dishes. As for the pizza, I finally broke down and ordered a table for the outside so that we can start making pizza in the outdoor pizza oven I got over 3 years ago! Oh… and we also splurged a little on some King Crab Legs and sake one evening (yum).

As such, this month was for focusing on a healthier lifestyle (though I still love my martinis and sake!). I was juicing everyday morning and… okay… more than once on the weekends for the martinis – LOL. I was also getting out almost every morning to do at least 5k and plan to do a 5k-a-day challenge for July. A such, I’m posting my runs on Instagram and NikePlus. I’ve also setup a new Running Page on this website as I’ve decided to get back into training for a few 1/2 marathons at the end of this year. Next year I turn 60 and that means I’ll be starting my training again to do my third marathon.

So I guess I’ve been a little busy for this month. No?!?

I did a film making course in the middle of the month and I attended Apple’s WWDC (World Wide Developer’s Conference) towards the end of the month. Both of these were online, so that made it a little easier on the budget as well, rather than having to travel up and stay in San Francisco.

Et Voilà, c’est tout pour le moment!
See you in July.
