I needed to do a little project to keep myself busy over the holidays. So I decided to build a flight simulator.
Wow – A Car Accident
This month started with a bit of a bang – quite literally!
Since moving to southern California in over 20 years ago, I’ve defied the odds by never having an accident… okay… the one in Amman Jordan doesn’t count as that car actually hit me while as I was going around the 6th circle. And… this one? Well, I was picking some friends up at LAX and heading back to SoCal on the 105 during rush hour in the car pool lane. So you know that means a speedy 5-7 MPH. They guy (Uber Driver) behind me decided to pull out across the double-lines carpool lane just as a motorcycle was passing buy. He hit the motorcycle that then proceeded to ping-pong between a few card (mine being one of them) before he hit the car in front of me and collapsed.
No serious injuries. Only a few dings, but it was quite a show – two police cars, two CHIPs, an ambulance, two fire trucks, a tow truck and 2 hours of being stuck on the freeway while blocking two lanes of traffic. So this was my first experience into the US (California) system. Well, it’s been almost month and the police report is still not finished. Our trusty little Honda Civic has been repaired, even though the bodyshop put the license plate holder on upside down! I had to dish out the $1,000 deductible because the person at fault has ‘mysteriously’ disappeared. Hopefully things will get straightened out over the next few months and I’ll get my money back!
We shall see…
